Decide together, prove you are human

Demist is an open-source platform for direct democracy. Citizens certify each other face to face, vote anonymously on the questions that concern them, and earn a civic currency for taking part. No company owns it, and no app store stands in the way.

Alpha testing campaign

1 – 30 September 2026

The first public alpha network is open to everyone. Nothing works without people willing to use it early, break it, and say what went wrong — that is exactly what we are asking from you.

  1. Install the app

Open app.demist.net in your browser, or install it on your phone or computer. It is a progressive web app: no store, no account, no tracking.

  2. Get certified

Meet other testers in person and certify each other by scanning a QR code. Five certifications make you a citizen.

  3. Report what breaks

A crash, a confusing screen, an awkward translation, a button that does nothing: every report helps.

The alpha runs on a test network. The misthos you gather has no monetary value and is destroyed when the campaign ends.

The project

Humanity faces increasingly serious threats — AI rise, global warming, mass extinction, wars, nuclear threat, pollution, resource depletion, pandemics management, poverty, famines, etc. Current governance systems are too slow and too often captured by economic interests to address them, and democracy is regressing worldwide.

We believe direct democracy is the way to meet these challenges. Demist develops open technologies to spread a worldwide governance system based on direct democracy: a Web-of-Trust identity system, a Universal Dividend currency, anonymous geographically-scoped voting, private voting, and citizen document signatures.

How it works

The ecosystem

Demist is a protocol, not a service. Anyone can run the pieces that make it work.

Open by construction

Every line of code, the protocol specification, and this website are open source under the MIT license. The app depends on no store and no proprietary service, so nobody can switch it off. Read it, run it, fork it, or help us improve it.
